Platinum complexes

Coordination complexes are so pervasive that their structures and reactions are described in many ways, sometimes confusingly. The atom within a ligand that is bonded to the central metal atom or ion is called the donor atom. In a typical complex, a metal ion is bonded to several donor atoms, which can be the same or different.

Polynuclear platinum complexes represent a novel class of prospective anticancer agents that possess distinctive cytotoxic activities as compared with mononuclear platinum compounds , , which have broken the“classical” cisplatin structure for platinum anticancer agents. Polynuclear platinum complexes, structurally different from cisplatin ...

After naming the ligands, name the central metal. If the complex ion is a cation, the metal is named same as the element. For example, Co in a complex cation is call cobalt and Pt is called platinum. (See examples 1-4). If the complex ion is an anion, the name of the metal ends with the suffix –ate. (See examples 5 and 6.). Platinum Music Complex has you covered.
