i've been rocking an alh swapped mk1 for a while (and a lot more time building it) but got tired of the intricacies of having a motor in a mk1 that was never designed or destined to be there and getting the heat/ac/etc working. VW 1900 TDI: 1Z/AHU Engine and the 1900 TDI AFN Engine. These are directly imported low mileage Used Complete Running engines with a 3 month warranty unless otherwise stated. These engines were used in the MK3 Series 1995-1998 Jetta, Passat. They may be used in Various Vw applications as well as various conversions. It injects extra diesel when the turbo builds boost. The engine came with 69 HP and 98 foot lbs. of torque at 2500 RPM. The engine is easily tuned. The bad thing is the big turbo (Garret T3). That was the downfall of this engine in Germany because German drivers never liked the big turbo lag of this engine. That and the way higher fuel consumption. The turbo you are talking about with a 52.7/46.2 turbine is probably way too big for you - while we don't know the AR etc a similarly sized turbine on one of the Darkside turbos there is saying it spools by 3300 RPM. You'd have almost no usable power band. Aug 26, 2014 · These two engines are nearly identical, but the 1Z has a Garrett turbo, the AHU has a Borg-Warner. The turbos are interchangeable. Like the B5.5 Passat, these turbos are separate from the manifold.
